THE RETOOLING TIME ALSO HAS AN IMPACT
The cost per piece does not only come from the cycle time to machine price ratio. There are many other variables to take into account, especially when there are very large families of pieces, and various set-ups to organize. Among all the variables, it is particularly important to consider the retooling times.
In fact, calculating cycle time alone is simply not enough.
> You also need to calculate how many part changes (retooling) you need to perform, or would like to perform.
> Then you need to calculate the actual retooling time to switch from one piece to another within the same family, and to switch from one piece of one family to one of another family, with, therefore, a different diameter.
